I am Shepherdess Celeste, and I have been gardening for over 50 years in various environments from the sea shore to the tops of mountains. Pretty much, I have seen what is normal and what is not. After the past several years I have watched an incremental change.
Here is my forecast of what you will see when gardening in 2018:
LESS by 3/4 available heirloom seeds and plants
LESS Growing seasons
LESS Humidity is going to pose a big problem
LESS Available water
LESS pollinators as herbicides and synthetic biology takes over
MORE out of stock and back ordered products
MORE synthetic vegetables and fruit (not GMO but gene-editing)
MORE wrongly labeled seeds
MORE strange veg & seeds looking like it is from Fukushima
MORE Climate Change Stress making oils more volatile, even lethal
MORE herbicide drift into your organic garden
MORE radiation/ magnetosphere problems
MORE insane wildfires
MORE creativity needed to make your farm work for your food and health
MORE plant and animal death
MORE invasive insect pests
MORE aggressive wildlife
MORE thinking outside of the box
It is a crazy time to be gardening but we were born for such a time as this. The odds are stacked against us, but persistent gardener’s will prevail!
Happy Gardening 2018!
